Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday submitted an affidavit before a one-judge tribunal probing Model Town tragedy, a private news channel reported.

According to the report, the CM , in his ‘written statement’, claimed that he came to know about the police raid at Minhaj ul Quran International (MQI) Secretariat through television in the morning.

It was further stated that Sharif then immediately inquired from his former principal secretary Dr Tauqir Shah about ‘what was happening’?

“Shah told me that it was decided to remove barricades in front of MQI Secretariat on June 16,” stated the CM.

On June 17, a violent clash between police and workers of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) outside Minhajul Quran International (MQI) Secretariat led to the killing of 12 people.
