The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday ordered transfer of a prisoner Iftikhar from the Sahiwal Jail to Lahore for medical treatment.
Petitioner Sultana Noon in her plea said that Iftikhar was among the 13 prisoners released by the US authorities from Afghanistan’s Bagram Airbase.
The Interior Ministry of Pakistan transferred the released men to an undisclosed location. Eleven of them were later released on court orders but Iftikhar was imprisoned at the Sahiwal Jail under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO).
The jail authorities informed the court that the said prisoner was mentally ill and needed treatment.
The bench issued orders for transfer of Iftikhar to the Fountain House in Lahore from the Sahiwal jail for medical treatment of the prisoner.
