Karachi Commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has asked transporters to remove sub-standard CNG cylinders from public transport while fuelling stations were warned of strict action for filling CNG in such vehicles.
Faulty, sub-standard and expired CNG cylinders used in public transport including buses, coaches and mini buses was not only a threat to passengers but it may risk the lives of people in the surroundings, he said in a statement issued on Friday. He directed all the CNG station owners not to provide gas to such vehicles as stern action would be taken against them for non-compliance and station may also be sealed.
Protection of life and property of people was utmost priority of the government which could never be compromised, he determined.
The commissioner also called transporters for removing sub-standard cylinders from public transport vehicles as precautionary measure for safety of passengers.
