Dollar reserves dip to $14.4 billion

The country’s liquid foreign exchange reserves slid to $ 14.450 billion during the week that ended on July 18, reported the central bank on Thursday.

During the week under review, the State Bank held $ 9.398 billion compared to $ 9.48 billion the bank possessed in the previous week. This marks a contraction of $ 87 million in the State Bank’s reserves. The decrease, the central bank said, was due to the repayments worth $69 million it made on account of external debt servicing and other official payments. “The SBP did not receive any significant inflows during this week,” the bank said. The dollar reserves of the commercial banks were counted at $ 5.051 billion during the week.
