Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MPA Rana Shoaib Idrees who was caught on tape attacking the Khurrianwala Police Station in Faisalabad, has been granted protective bail till August 11 from the Lahore High Court.

Idrees and his accomplices attacked the Khurrianwala Police Station in order to free his companions two days ago. The accused are said to have tortured and injured Police Sub-Inspector Riyasat Ali and other police officials besides damaging official property.

Talking to a private news channel, Idrees said the footage that the police had presented as evidence against him is over a year old, adding that it was of an incident that occurred before the general elections.

He claimed that he went to the police station on the night of July 19 but did not torture any police official, adding that the inspector was beaten up by a mob. The lawmaker, who is said to be involved in several criminal cases, said that he was in hiding for the last three days because he feared that the police would frame false charges against him.
