Rs 160m donated to CM’s relief fund for IDPs

Philanthropists, industrialists, traders, assembly members and people of various walks of life met Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif Tuesday and presented cheques amounting to Rs 160 million for Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the IDPs.

Philanthropists of the city gave cheques worth Rs 3.5 million while industrialists presented cheques for Rs 13.5 million for the relief fund which include Rs 2.5 million by Guard Group, Rs 2.5 million by SK Brothers, Rs 3 million by Master Paint and Rs 2.5 million by Packages.

A business group presented cheque for Rs 100 million, Sahiwal DPS Principal Brig Anwaarul Haq Kirmani Rs 0.525 million, MPA Dr Nadia Aziz Rs 0.8 million, MPA Pir Ghulam Farid Rs 0.5 million, MNA Shazia Wattoo Rs 0.1 million, Sirdar Zulfiqar Rs 1 million, Asia Poultry Feed Chief Executive Officer Ghulam Nabi Chaudhry Rs 5 million, Veterinary University Lahore Vice Chancellor Dr Talat Naseer Pasha Rs 1.1 million, Mian Waqar Rs 1 million and Saleem Ghauri Rs 1 million.

Speaking on the occasion, the Punjab chief minister said that a large number of people of various walks of life were donating funds for IDPs in response to his appeal. He said that every penny of money donated towards Chief Minister’s Relief Fund will be spent in a transparent manner.

Shahbaz vowed that the Punjab government will spare no effort in providing assistance to IDPs. He said that the people and Punjab government will not rest till the return and complete rehabilitation of affected families to their houses.

Member National Assembly Pervaiz Malik, members provincial assembly Chaudhry Shahbaz and Bao Akhtar, Advisor Khawaja Ahmed Hasaan, Board of Revenue senior member, Lahore DCO and other concerned officials were also present on the occasion.
