Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MPA Khurram Gulfam on Tuesday passed away in city’s Services Hospital.
The lawmaker was in coma for the last two weeks. He was being treated in the hospital for neck tumour. Doctors said the MPA underwent a tumour surgery on Tuesday but could not survive.
Gulfam, elected to PP-162 (Sheikhupura-I), was declared brain dead last week, days after he was brought to the hospital for a minor procedure.
At the hospital, his condition turned critical during the operation and the doctors shifted him to the ICU.
Born on February 6, 1979 in Sheikhupura, Gulfam received his early education from Lahore’s Aitchison College and later graduated from Government College, Lahore. He obtained the degree of MA (English) in 2001 from University of the Punjab, Lahore and graduated in Law in 2004 from Lahore’s Pakistan College of Law.
In 2007, when he was serving as Muridke’s naib nazim, an attempt was made on Gulfam’s life. Although he had managed to escape unhurt in the attack near Fatehwali village. Gulfam had later told reporters that the attack was ordered by his political rivals.
