According to press reports, operational agreement between Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India has been signed at the rate of US$ 13 per MMBTU. I would like to ask the PML-N government why it has not debated this project in the parliament before signing the agreement. The people of Pakistan have a right to know what government is deciding on their behalf. It will be the consumers who are going to pay the cost of project and the gas. Why is the government not laying down pipe on the Pakistani side for Iran-Pakistan gas project which can be operational in a few months? The Iranian gas rate is US$11 per MMBTU. Why is government surrendering its energy security to Afghanistan?
