Five government servants, involved in monetary embezzlement at Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST) Islamabad campus were dislodged from their services on the basis of an inquiry report.

These servants included Asim Bukhari, Hammad Kayani, Asif Rana, Rasheed Bangash and Shah Jee Muahammed, says a FUUAST release. They had transferred Rs 150 million into an illegal bank account that was opened in the name of the university in a private bank without informing the relevant authorities.

On getting the information about the scandal, FUUAST Vice Chancellor Dr Zafar Iqbal set up a five-member inquiry committee headed by Dean Faculty of Engineering Professor Dr Abdul Razzaq Memon for the inquiry of the corruption. The committee comprised Professor Dr Masood Mashkoor, Professor Dr Mehmood Khan, Dr Nazeer Ahmed and Syed Ibn e Ali Jafri.

The committee submitted an inquiry report in which the said servants were nominated as the culprits and different punishments were also suggested for them.

Dr Iqbal immediately suspended the five servants on the basis of the report. Since, the manager of the bank was also involved in the fraud case that was why the case had been handed over to Federal Investigation Agency for broader investigation.
