Car thieves busted

Islamabad Police have arrested two car thieves and seized stolen cars, a police spokesman said Monday.

According to details, SP Jameel Ahmed Hashmi constituted special teams for effective checking in various points of the city to curb car lifting incidents.

One of the team, comprising police officials of anti-car lifting cell Inspector Fayyaz Ahmed Ranjha, ASIs Manzoor Elahi, Sarfaraz and Nadir Ali, was performing duty on police picket near toll plaza when they stopped a car for checking.

Two occupants of car tried to speed away but were stopped by the police team. They were identified as Hafiz Abdullah Afghani, son of Ghulam Siddique, and Ishfaq Ahmed, son of Muhammad Akram Awan.

On checking the car, police found jammers, two 30-bore pistols along with ammunition while car (AVK-156) with fake number plate being driven by them were also found stolen from Karachi Company.

During the preliminary investigation, the nabbed persons have confessed their involvement in several car theft incidents. They have also remained jailbirds and confessed to take away stolen cars to KPK and sell them to other areas after changing their chassis numbers through tempering or cut and weld and preparing their fake documents.
