Massive fire in Mumbai building

NEW DELHI: A massive fire on the top two floors of a 22-story business center in India’s financial capital of Mumbai has killed one firefighter and injured 19 others.

Fire officer D.M. Kamle says two helicopters helped evacuate some of the firefighters trapped on the roof of the building on Friday in Mumbai’s Andheri West district.

Kamle says the cause of the fire is not immediately known. It gutted the top two floors and caused damage on other floors.Eight of the 19 injured firefighters were hospitalised with no life threatening injuries.

Nearly two dozen fire engines took almost eight hours to douse the flames which were fanned by a strong breeze.
