CDA, ICT to plant a million saplings this monsoon

Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration would separately plant 1,000,000 saplings during the current monsoon season.

A CDA spokesperson said that tree plantation campaign would start after Eidul Fitr, adding that authority was focusing on planting the indigenous species and fruit trees including Chir Pine, Kachnar, Amaltas, Dhreak, Jacaranda, Olive and Jaman. He said that strict monitoring of the planted saplings would be carried out to ensure their maximum survival.

The CDA will involve general public, educational institutions, NGOs, government employees and traders to make this campaign a success.

During monsoon campaign, 500,000 saplings would be planted in urban and regional areas of the federal capital including green belts, avenues, parks, Margallah Hills National Park Area and Simly Catchment Area, he added. He said that CDA was taking all possible steps to maintain the natural beauty of the capital city in collaboration with the citizens and particularly educational institutions.
