The alleged mastermind of the attack on Kamra airbase was killed in an overnight action by Rangers in Karachi.
According to a Rangers spokesman, the alleged mastermind was associated with the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and was killed during targeted action in Karachi’s Musharraf Colony.
In 2012, law enforcement had claimed to have arrested the attack’s alleged mastermind.
The airbase was attacked in August 2012 by seven heavily armed militants, sparking an intense gun battle between militants and security forces which lasted for almost five hours.
All seven militants were killed during the clash and one Pakistani soldier also lost his life in the attack.
