- IHC summons Establishment Division joint secretary, CSB chairman on 22nd in bureaucrat promotion case

Islamabad High Court (IHC) has summoned Establishment Division Joint Secretary Muhammad Shakil and Central Selection Board (CSB) Chairman Asif Hayat in person on July 22 in the case of promotion of senior bureaucrat Zia Batool from grade 21 to grade 22. The court has also directed them to file their replies.
A single bench of IHC headed by Justice Noorul Haq N Qureshi took up Zia Batool versus federation case for hearing Wednesday.
Agha Muhammad Ali Jan, counsel for the petitioner, told the court that his client Zia Batool, a senior bureaucrat, was working in grade 21 as joint secretary in Ministry of SAFRON. She was to be promoted in grade 22 but she has not been promoted so far. The government has promoted their favourites to next grade under its policy of own choice. He told the court the learned judge had issued orders during the previous hearing that the petitioner be promoted to grade 22 but the court’s orders were not implemented.
He further said that the learned judge had remarked in the previous hearing that contempt of court proceedings will be initiated against the parties concerned if the petitioner was not promoted to grade 22.
The court, while summoning Establishment Division joint secretary and CSB chairman on July 22 adjourned the hearing of the case.
