German consortium to ensure high standard of work on iron ore exploration

Punjab government has signed an agreement with a consortium of German companies under which the consortium will ensure a high standard of work on the project of iron ore exploration at Chiniot-Rajwa and also conduct resident supervision.

Mines and Minerals Secretary Dr Arshad Mehmood and German consortium GEOS Managing Director Dr Jurgen Hartsch signed the agreement. Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif was the chief guest on the occasion.

The CM welcomed the agreement signed between the Punjab government Mineral Company and the consortium of German companies and said that it will ensure a high standard of work during the iron ore exploration project. He said that the Chiniot-Rajwa Iron Ore Project is of vital importance for Pakistan and the iron ore reserves in this area are no less valuable for Pakistan than oil and gold. He said that Punjab is rich in mineral wealth which can be utilised for strengthening national economy. He said that German technology is established in mining as well as other sectors. He said that cooperation with the consortium of German companies in coal mining sector should also be considered. German delegation said that a high standard of work on iron ore exploration project at Chiniot-Rajwa will be ensured. They said that they are deeply impressed with the style of work of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. Planning and Development chairman, secretary information and other officials concerned were present on the occasion.
