CM wants authorities to hurry up with the energy project!

Early completion of energy projects is the top priority of the government, said Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif while presiding over a high level meeting on Monday to discuss arrangements regarding transportation of coal to be used in the coal power plant being set up in Punjab. The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique Energy additional chief secretary, Railways general manager operations and officers concerned.

Shahbaz said that an agreement has been made with consortium of different Chinese companies for setting up a 1320 megawatt coal based power plants in Sahiwal. He said that work has been started on the coal power projects in Sahiwal. The CM said that there is great potential in Rahim Yar Khan, Muzaffargarh and Jhang for setting up coal based power plants, adding that a comprehensive planning should be made for transportation of coal through railway from Karachi Port for coal power plants. Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique assured that Ministry of Railways will extend all possible cooperation for transportation of coal.
