Initially 55,000 acres of land has been identified at Taluka Shah Bandar for the development of mega residential city project Zulfikarabad.

The Sindh government has decided to accelerate the work of construction on this major project and eradicate all bottlenecks if any comes in the way of implementations.

This was decided in the meeting, presided over by Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah on Monday at CM House Karachi wherein advisers, members of board of revenue, secretary, MD and other project-related officers were present.

The CM said it was very important project for Sindh, and it would pave the way and open new avenues of progress and prosperity for the people of province. However, the progress of its implementation remained slow because of different reasons, he said.

Shah said though this project was conceived on 1.3 million of acres, till date 55,000 acres of land had been identified at Taluka Shah Bandar. He directed the officers to undertake survey and bring at least 100,000 acres of land under the city plan.

Talking on the problems of litigation of contractor for construction of 44 KM expressway of the project, Shah asked the advocate general to approach the court and get the stay order vacated, and directed the management to engage reputed city architectural firms for the said purpose.

While briefing the CM, Zulfikarabad Managing Director Lt Gen (r) Iftikhar Hussain Shah said this project was conceived on 1.3 million acres of land, but 0.9 million acres were under the sea while the remaining land was fragmented. However, they had planned to start from Shah Bandar where at least 55,000 acres of land was available, he added.

He said this year his management needed Rs 1.7 billion for land acquisition, 1.3 billion for road construction, and Rs 1.4 billion for construction of bridges.
