Rangers have disclosed the arrest of Haider Baig from Karachi on Sunday. According to Rangers, the accused has confessed to committing 12 murders.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Deputy Convener Nasir Jamal has demanded to present Haider Baig in the court. The Ranger’s spokesperson informed that the victim was arrested between the night of Friday and Saturday at around 3:00 am. Biag had confessed to murdering 12 people and he had also been involved in extortion, he added. Nasir Jamal said all those arrested in target operation shouldn’t go missing but presented in the court.

The MQM’s coordinating committee has condemned the arrest of Unit 83 Landhi sector’s committee member Mohammad Javed. The coordinating committee said Javed was arrested from his place while watching a football match. The committee has announced to protect arrested activists of the MQM.

Altaf Hussain had written a letter to the Karachi Corps Commander asking him to take an urgent notice of the arrest of party workers last week. The letter was shared with the media where Hussain had given details about the arrest of his worker Haider Baig from New Karachi. Altaf Hussain also complained to the army general about the arrest of his various party workers by Rangers and requested an immediate action in response.

Last week, five activists were arrested while raids were carried out at the houses of three workers. Out of the five workers arrested, three belong to the Lyari sector while one each was from Ranchore Line and Baldia.

The party leader, Aminul Haque, said more than two dozen workers of the MQM who were picked up during the targeted operation since it kicked off last September, were still missing. All of them were innocent but if anyone was found guilty of any crime, he should be presented before the court, he demanded.

The issues of the missing activists and the formation of a monitoring committee to look after the targeted operation has been discussed by the party with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at the meeting on Thursday last week.
