Pak army sends 11 more trucks of relief items for IDPs

A consignment of 11 trucks loaded with eighty tonnes of relief goods for internally displaced persons (IDPs) of North Waziristan was dispatched to Bannu from Army Relief Camp at Fortress Stadium on Saturday.

An amount of Rs 24 million has also been so far collected as donations in cash.

Lahore Corps Commander Logistics Brigadier Mazhar Kayani informed the journalists that almost 250 tonnes of relief goods including dry rations, items of daily use and medicines have been collected within three weeks of establishment of Army Relief Camps in the city.

He said that a consignment of 80 tonnes have been dispatched on Saturday, while 160 tonnes of relief goods had already been dispatched during the last week.

He said that philanthropists, NGOs and civil welfare organisations were making generous contribution in cash for this noble cause. He lauded the overall national spirit in supporting the displaced brethren. Punjab governor’s Coordinator Social Sector Rabia Zia was also present and donated 2000 litre of mineral water for people of North Waziristan.

Brigadier Mazhar Kayani eulogised the traditional solidarity and dedication of the people.
