- Five overhead bridges to be installed outside Rawalpindi educational institutions
ISLAMABAD
INP
Several overhead bridges have been constructed on Islamabad Highway and IJP Road but the citizens are reluctant to use them leading to fatal road accidents.
According to a survey, five overhead bridges are present in Islamabad Highway between Zero Point and Kural Chowk but they are seldom used. People try to cross directly through the road amid speedy traffic and fall victim to accidents.
On the other hand, Capital Development Authority (CDA), traffic police and the district administration is not paying heed to educate and persuade the residents to use the overhead bridges to cross the roads. After every accident, a case is registered against the driver of the vehicle involved and no concrete step is taken to prevent the accidents.
NEW BRIDGES ON CARDS:
Five overhead bridges, removed from Murree Road during Metro Bus project, will now be installed on other places.
The bridges will be installed on busy roads outside educational institutions to facilitate the students and kids to cross the roads.
According to reports, one pedestrian bridge will be fixed outside Fatima Jinnah Women University on Rashid Minhas Road, second at Kashmir Road outside a school, third in Sir Syed Chowk on Tipu Road outside a school, fourth on IJP Road and the fifth one will be installed outside some other educational institution. The bridges have been shifted to the relevant places and will be installed there soon.
