Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is not in favour of pre-mature change of government through agitation, said PPP Punjab President Manzoor Wattoo while talking to USA PPP President Shafqat Tanvir and others in New York on Friday.

He said that the politics of confrontation, acrimony, personal attacks and the habit of blowing out of proportion had cost Pakistan dearly in terms of hurting the federation, the continuity of the political system and the process of national integration. It calls that the sanity should prevail because the country cannot afford the burden of poor judgments any more, he observed.

He maintained that the PPP was supporting the continuity of the democratic process in the country in difficult circumstances despite the allegations of the “B Team” of the government. The PPP is absolutely clear that salvation of democracy is the supreme cause and as such worth espousing for because all other considerations have no meaning at present political context adding accusations of the political opponents carry no weight in the face of right priority of the Party, he asserted.

He maintained that while the mistakes of the politicians in the past were facts but the unnecessary and unconstitutional interference of some of state institutions also played havoc with the collective destiny of the country that squarely hampered the overall progress of the nation besides the continuity of the democratic process. Democracy, political stability and social development are interlinked, he argued.

He pointed out that hurtfully the successive governments in the past unleashed the political victimization of the political opponents with vengeance caring less to the imperatives of the continuity of the political system. They focused in wasting their energies and times in erasing the footprints of the predecessor governments instead of concentrating on good governance and providing relief to the people of the country in the fields of health, education, civil amenities, he added.
