Pakistan’s cricket has been in a terrible mess for several years now. Honestly speaking, the game of cricket in our part of the world has always been a victim of long-drawn controversies and ad hocism. It is a known fact that politics has crept in everywhere and ruined all our institutions to a point of utter destruction. Undeniably, cricket is one game that Pakistan has excelled in for an appreciable period of time. This game has made Pakistan stand out conspicuously among the sporting nations of the world, and Pakistan’s cricket team has earned laurels for the country, time and again, through its brilliant wins in this outstanding sports.
Ouster of Najam Sethi, a number of times before and yet again, has made Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Pakistan a laughing stock in the cricketing world. In the larger interest of cricket in Pakistan, urgent measures would be needed to be taken by people at the helm in the government to put things straight once and for all. Adhocism and politicisation vis-à-vis cricket must end forthwith. If this is not done, I am afraid like other sports the game of cricket in Pakistan is also destined to wither away soon.
