The 200 megawatts Papin Dam project being constructed by the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) in District Rawalpindi will be completed by 2018-19.
According to a WAPDA official, the stored flood water in the dam will also be utilised for irrigating 18,000 acres of agricultural area.
The Papin project will help in socio-economic uplift, poverty reduction and women emancipation, he said.
He said that upon the completion of the project, it will contribute to the national power grid system and would also result in bringing a green revolution by irrigating a vast stretch of agriculture land in the Potohar region.
He said that the government believes in uplifting the people by developing infrastructure and providing them with all basic facilities of life.
