On popular demand of users of the mobile app, Gullu, the app developers have upgraded the app to incorporate the Metro bus and singer Tahir Shah in the options available to be smashed.
Talking to Pakistan Today, Weird Science CEO Pavel Qaiser said that with about 60,000 downloads of the app so far, there was a lot of feedback and an overwhelming demand to include Metro bus as an object for the bat-yielding Gullu to smash.
“We have now upgraded the game with new features. The users now have the option to make Gullu strike a car, Metro bus, singer Tahir Shah and an airplane,” said Qaiser, adding that after earning a certain amount of points, Gullu earns the title of councilor, nazim, MPA and MNA.
The option to take a swipe at the Metro bus can be taken as a hit at the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government but the app developers deny any political affiliation, saying that it is mere “coincidence”.
Another interesting hit is at singer Tahir Shah, of Eye to Eye fame.
“Our purpose is to promote local heroes and villains and project them into the international market,” said Qaiser.
The developers are of the view that “there is a Gullu Butt inside everyone” or at least a Butt-esque character in every family.
The application was downloaded by 60,000 users in the first week of its launch and the number has doubled after the upgrade.
According to Google Play, Gullu is one of the top 10 games trending in Pakistan.
“Although these numbers are not significant according to international standards, from a Pakistani perspective these are really encouraging,” Faizan, a co-developer of the app, told Pakistan Today.
