PAT chief says electoral reforms alone cannot change country’s fate; there is a need to change system

Downplaying the scope of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman’s Azadi March, Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri placed his idea of revolution on a higher pedestal, saying that the purpose of his revolution was to bring about a total change in the country’s system according to the first 40 articles of the Constitution while Khan was only asking for electoral reforms.

While addressing a press conference at Minhajul Quran Secretariat, Qadri stressed that his revolution will not be postponed, adding that he was in direct contact with the representatives of his party to finalise the date of the revolution.

The PAT chief denied knowing the scope of Imran Khan’s tsunami, however he said that the agenda of PAT revolution was “much bigger than just brining electoral reforms”. He further added that the PTI’s tsunami was a “small component” of his party’s revolution.

While arguing that introduction of reforms in electoral process could not change the fate of the country, Qadri said Khan himself could throw light on his plans. He said even changing the election commissioner could not make a difference as he alleged that the Sharif brothers could buy the election commission again.

Talking about the judicial tribunal probing into the Model Town clashes between his supporters and the police, Qadri said that since the beginning he had rejected the constitution of the judicial tribunal thus, it holds no importance.

Qadri further alleged that the tribunal was continuing ‘one-sided proceedings’ after their boycott. Clarifying that he did not doubt the judge, he said that the tribunal could be fair had Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif been removed from his position as under him no action could be taken on merit.

Addressing Justice Ali Baqar Najfi, head of the tribunal, the PAT chief that he would appear before him if the chief minister, chief secretary, home secretary, IG police, DIG, SSP and all others who were in command on the day of the clashes were removed from their posts.

The PAT chief said since the tribunal summoned conversation records of Shahbaz with other officers, the Punjab government had also lost confidence in the tribunal. He said the government had removed tribunal’s secretary to instate someone who will favour them and said that the next step will be the removal of the tribunal.

  1. Qadri did not like Pakistan to be the country of his residence and citizenship….OK..i got it….But answer this…is Qadri not a hypocrite? if you said NO..then think about this…Qadri is a Canadian citizen and he wants to bring revolution to a country he deserted long time ago. now, since he has taken the oath of allegiance to be faithful to the Queen, how will you justify his revolutionary thought for the deserted country. People like you love to be the fuel of these stupid annual revolutions so, be it. leave home alive and come back dead. your family will appreciate the "revolutionary" return.

  2. (1) Qadri did the mistake of taking citizenship of Canada, so he alongwith all his followers should be killed by police action as done in Model Town operation. He should have installed sugar industry in Canada, Britain and even in India with the kick backs like Nawaz Brothers or purchased Castles in England like Zardari.
    (2) Qadri made another mistake and sat in a container during his last march. He should have damn well constructed an other "Umra Jati" Mahal in Raiwind and sat in that as Nawaz and sons do or should have received another Bilawal House from Malik Riaz as Zardari did.
    (3) Qadri made another mistake that he having followers all over the world, came down to Pakistan to be with his people. He should have gone to India and met Modi to conspire with him against Pakistan Army as Nawaz and Zardari did.

That is what "Real Democracy" and the people in love with "Democracy demand.

  4. Same for the PTI. Because PTI has similar agenda as Qadri. Both go to he……………………. .

  5. I agree with the observations ,demands and remarks of Mr Tahir Ul Qadri. They are truest to the understanding of real Pakistan problems and something should be done about them. However i would urge Qadri Sahab to devote his loyalty entirely towards Pakistan now and give up his Canadian citizen status and Parmanantly move to Pakistan. And only visit other countries on a Pakistani passport and solely as a Pakistani only then i would say that Qadri sahab has my support. Otherwise I agree with his remarks but do not agree with him being a leader for Pakistani.s rather just a person with good ideas about Pakistan.
