‘ .Tnts of sectors F-6/1, G-7/3, G-6/1 and I-9 have become heavily dependent on water tankers to fulfil their requirements.

The residents of these areas opined that due to poor planning, various houses in the metropolis are not getting appropriate water supply and that CDA should take steps to ensure the provision of this basic facility.

Basharat Ali, a resident of F-6/1, said that he has been facing the shortage of water since two weeks, forcing him to buy water from tankers at exorbitant rates. He said that the residents of the area have submitted numerous applications to the concerned authorities to take a notice of this issue.

When contacted, an official of CDA’s water management wing said that the water consumption increases manifold during summers, while unscheduled load shedding and lavish use of water by the residents have resulted in the shortage of water. He said that the concerned department has been directed to repair and maintain water tankers, tube-wells and water filtration plants. In these sectors water supply is being available for only half an hour insufficient to meet the requirements of the people.

Residents of G-6, Ashfaq Ahmed and Aqib Rehman, said that they used to lodge several complaints to relevant offices early morning requesting for water tanker to meet their daily needs but the water inquiry of CDA does not respond.

Another senior citizen, Abdul Rehman, said that he has not enough water even for ablution. The residents pinned hope that the new government will take measures to decrease the load shedding to some extent that will help improving water supply situation in the federal capital.

Meanwhile the residents of various sectors of the capital have demanded Capital Development Authority (CDA) to fix the leakage of water supply line so as to stop continuous waste of water.

The residents said that the leakage was not only wasting water but also damaging the roads, adding that pipeline has been broken at three to four points at various places including Zero Point Interchange (ZPI) but the civic body have turned a blind eye towards the matter.
