ISLAMABAD-

Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has approached the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), seeking Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s ineligibility to hold his office.

The PTI’s Murad Saeed and Ali Muhammad Khan filed an application to the ECP to get Nawaz Sharif’s nomination papers. They said that the move was intended to file a reference with Speaker National Assembly for Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification.

The PTI spokesperson Dr Shireen Mazari said that her party filed the petition on the grounds that the Prime Minister did not fulfill the qualifications specified in Article 62 and Article 63 of the Constitution.

She further added that he had violated his 10-year exile deal and lied to the nation along with being convicted in Asghar Ali Khan and the helicopter purchase case.
