CM discusses development projects with Chinese minister

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the regional situation and ongoing development projects being implemented in Pakistan with the cooperation of China were discussed.

Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal was also present.

According to a handout released by DGPR, talking to the Chinese foreign minister, the CM said he had brought a message of goodwill from Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for the Chinese government and people.

The CM thanked the Chinese foreign minister for his role in the implementation of economic package announced by China for Pakistan.

He said that the considerable progress made on the economic corridor over the past one year is due to the competency of Pakistan and China’s leadership and its interest in progress.

According to reports, Sharif said Pakistan had decided to launch a decisive war against terrorism because no progress could be made without elimination of this menace.

He said that the Pakistani government was speedily implementing the Gwadar project and the process of acquisition of land has been completed after making payments.

The Chinese foreign minister said that Pakistani guests are always welcome in China. He said that no hurdle will be allowed in the way of the economic package, which includes Karachi-Lahore Motorway and other projects.

He said that in this regard, China is even ready to relax rules and regulations for Pakistan.
