The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided to provide copies of documents related to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, to Arsalan Iftikhar.

The ECP has confirmed that Arsalan, the controversial son of former chief justice of Pakistan Justice (r) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, has sought a copy of the PTI chief’s nomination papers.

An ECP spokesman said that the documents would be provided to Arsalan within three days, in line with the legal procedure.

The spokesman rejected reports that a summary has been forwarded to the chief election commissioner for provision of the documents to Arsalan.

“Parliamentarians’ nomination papers are public documents and any citizen can avail them by filing an application,” he said.

Reports suggest that Arsalan is preparing to submit a reference with the National Assembly speaker against Khan.

According to sources, the reference will be filed for not fulfilling the requirements of Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution in connection with contesting the general elections.

Earlier, Asralan had alleged that the PTI chief has a ‘love child’, a daughter, in the US, which he did not mention in the nomination papers he filed with the ECP for contesting the May 2013 general elections.

“Khan is neither Sadiq (honest) nor Ameen (upright),” Iftikhar had alleged.
