The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday directed all the political parties, enlisted with the commission, to submit their financial details for financial year 2013-2014 on or before August, 29, 2014.
According to a statement issued by the ECP, it was said that Article 13 of the Political Parties Order, 2002 demands that every political party is bound to submit a consolidated statement of accounts of the party including annual income and expenses, sources of its funds and assets and liabilities to the Election Commission within sixty days from the close of each financial year while the statement should be duly audited by a Chartered Accountant in this regard.
The ECP said that the statement of accounts of the party is required to be accompanied by a certificate signed by the party leader stating that no funds from any source prohibited under Political Parties Order, 2002, were received by the party during the financial year while it also required that the statement contains an accurate financial position of the party.
