The Supreme Court (SC) Thursday issued show cause notices to chief secretary, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) establishment secretary and KP minerals secretary and sought reply from them for not promoting Mian Farooq Iqbal in Grade 20 despite court orders.
The order was issued by a three-member SC bench presided over by Justice Jawwad S Khawaja during the course of hearing of contempt of court petition filed by Mian Muhammad Farooq Thursday.
The court has said in the show cause notices as to why contempt of court proceedings be not initiated against them.
The court while dictating the decision said the court had issued orders on November, 24, 2014 for granting promotion to Farooq in Grade 20 and by virtue of this promotion he was to become Minerals DG.
However, inquiry was held and disciplinary action was initiated against him rather than promoting him. They could not satisfy court in terms of details and proceedings of action. Therefore, the court issues show cause notices to chief secretary, secretary establishment and secretary minerals KP and seeks reply from them as to why the contempt of court proceedings be not initiated against them.
The hearing of the case was adjourned till July, 20.
