Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) on Thursday accepted Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM)’s invitation for attending its rally on July 6 to be organised to show solidarity with Pakistan Army for fighting militants in North Waziristan.

The invitation was extended by MQM delegation during a meeting with Sindh Minister for Information Sharjeel Inam Memon at his residence on Wednesday.

The four-member MQM delegation comprising provincial assembly members Khawaja Izharul Hasan, Khalid Bin Vilayat, Dr Arshad Vohra and Mehmood Abdul Razzaq. Minister for Excise and Taxation Mulesh Kumar Chawla was also present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Memon said that the country was facing challenges of terrorism and the entire nation was standing alongside Pakistan army against fighting it. Federal government’s decision to take on militants was a good decision, he said adding that PPP had accepted MQMs invitation for July 6 gathering.

He said that PPP and Sindh government had clear stance on IDPs that we would not leave the IDPs alone in this difficult situation.

MQM Deputy Parliamentary Leader in Sindh Assembly Khawaja Izharul Hassan said that todays meeting was aimed at extending invitation to PPP for July 6 rally and we had asked Memon to convey our message to Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah, who was currently in Islamabad.

He said that on the directives of MQM Chief Altaf Hussain, the party was in contact with all religious and political parties for getting support for the rally and they had extended invitations to all political and religious parties.

He said, “We not only support Pakistan army action against militants but are standing alongside them in this fight against extremism.”

Political parties playing politics in the name of IDPs have done nothing for the country, Khawaja concluded.
