A joint investigation team probing the Model Town clashes has said that Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) supporters are not cooperating with them.

“There are some problems in the investigation,” said a member of the joint investigation team, set up by a judicial commission which is investigating the June 17 clashes between PAT workers and the police that left 14 PAT supporters dead.

Justice Ali Baqar Najfi, heading the commission, asked the investigation team to keep urging victims of the clashes to appear before the tribunal. The team has said that they would submit a report to the commission on July 9.

Four witnesses, who were passers-by during the clash, appeared before the tribunal on Thursday and recorded their statements, saying that they were crossing the Minhajul Quran Secretariat when the police were fired upon from inside the building.

The additional inspector general and joint investigation team will submit reports to the commission on Friday (today).
