The ceremony of Prime Minister National Laptop Scheme was conducted by Bahria University (BU) with the collaboration of Higher Education Commission (HEC) on Wednesday.

The scheme has been initiated by the federal government to help enhance the access to information technology. The laptops are being awarded to students studying in public sector higher education institutes across the country as part of the prime minister’s youth programs for 2013-14.

The prime minister believes that this scheme is a way to help the youth who have skills, education and passion but lack the desired resources. This scheme will help that part of the youth to grow and to materialize their dreams in order to create a better Pakistan.

While speaking to the audience, BU Rector Vice Admiral (r) Shahid Iqbal HI(M) congratulated the HEC and the government of Pakistan for the successful execution of the scheme and also to the students who have come up to criteria for award. He said that this scheme is ambitious and complimented the HEC and the government for all their efforts.

While addressing the students, Iqbal said that it was their duty now to use this laptop for the desired reason and to utilise their skills and help Pakistan prosper in every field. He declared these laptops as honour and recognition to the student’s good studies and abilities.

HEC IT Director General Anwar Amjad, Pro- Rector Rear Admiral Saleem Akhtar HI (M) and all directors and BU HODs also attended the ceremony.

About 140 students of BU have successfully received the laptops and Evo devices and in yesterday’s ceremony about 300 more laptops were distributed to the remaining students of post graduate programs.
