Senate passes Protection of Pakistan Bill

The Senate on Monday unanimously passed The Protection of Pakistan Bill, 2014, which provides for prevention of acts threatening the country’s security.

After the 106th session of the Senate began in Islamabad with Deputy Chairman Sabir Ali Baloch in the chair, Minister for Science and Technology Zahid Hamid on behalf of the interior minister moved the bill.

The chair announced panel of the presiding officers for the current session which included Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana, Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi and Afrasiab Khattak.

Standing Committee on Interior and Narcotics Control Chairman Muhammad Talha Mahmood laid the committee’s report on Protection of Pakistan Bill.

The Senate also unanimously passed The Emigration (Amendment) Bill, 2014 which paves way for amendment in Emigration Ordinance, 1979. The bill was moved Maula Bakhsh Chandio.

Special Committee on Recruitment Convener Raja Muhammad Zafarul Haq presented the report of the committee in the House.
