I had an experience of visiting Ramadan Bazaar yesterday and the very sight of it shocked me. It was a chaotic and bizarre scene. The vendors were selling goods at increased prices. I had hoped that there would be a reduction in the price but what I saw was actually the opposite. There was no check and balance on the vendors so the vendors were not selling more than one kilogram of any vegetable to one person. I asked a vendor to give me 3kg onions but he refused to do so. I tried to contact the monitoring authority there but no one was on duty.
It’s the holy month of Ramazan and the authorities should be concerned about the people as the basic teaching of Islam is to serve the humanity. What’s the use of fasting if people don’t care for other people? The basic purpose of setting up Ramazan bazar is to provide food items to people at minimum cost but what apparently it has become a place of profitable business.
