  • Fruit prices witness an increase with the advent of holy month of Ramazan

With the start of the holy month of Ramazan, the prices of fruits and vegetables have witnessed an increase in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Vendors are selling fruits and vegetable without displaying official rate lists at their stalls for overcharging the people.

A number of shoppers complained that shopkeepers were violating price lists issued by the local price magistrates to the shopkeepers and vendors.

Shoppers at Aabpara Market alleged that there was no check on the prices of vegetables and fruits. The shoppers urged the authorities to control the prices in Ramazan.

The shoppers appealed concerned authorities to adopt proper plan and take appropriate measures to restrict vendors from overcharging.

During visit to various markets, mangoes were being sold at Rs 100-160 per kg, bananas were being sold at Rs 160-255 per dozen and apple at Rs 100-150 per kg.

While potatoes were being sold at Rs 80-90 per kg, tomatoes were available at Rs 50 t0 70 per kg, onion was available at Rs 50 per kg, curd Rs 120 per kg, milk fresh was available at Rs 105-110 per litre, whereas sugar was being sold at Rs 60 per kg.

Pumpkin was available at Rs 40-45 per kg, Tinda at Rs 60-70 per kg, green tori at Rs 50-60 per kg, ladyfinger at Rs 60 per kg, bitter gourd at Rs 70-90 per kg and capsicum at Rs 70-80 per kg.
