Auto workshops operating in residential areas of the federal capital are irking residents of the nearby areas.
The authorities had claimed of shifting these shops to a location far from the residential localities but no avail.
This has caused mental and respiratory illnesses in the citizens living near the areas where these workshops are situated.
According to details, auto workshops are located in the heart of residential localities, that is, near Madina Market, and I&T Centre affiliated with Aabpara Market.
In addition, workshops are also operating in I&T Centre G-7, Khadda Market, G-8 Markaz and G-9 Markaz.
Capital Development Authority (CDA) had planned to shift the industrial units and workshops in Sector I-17 but the plan was not implemented. The workers repair cars at footpaths of these areas. They also paint the cars on the spot.
All this gives way to noise pollution and odor of paint irks the people living by. This is open violation of CDA by-laws while no action has been taken as yet to resolve the issue.
