Former AJK PM meets Zardari, discuss Kashmir

Former Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Sultan Mahmood Sunday held a meeting with former president Asif Ali Zardari in London and briefed him on his visit of USA and Europe.

During the meeting, Mamood said that Asif Zardari was also briefed about his efforts regarding highlighting Kashmir issue at international level.

Mahmood said that the current geo-political situation of Azad Kashmir and Pakistan and its impact on Kashmir issue also came under discussion. He said that the issue of Afghanistan and situation after the withdrawal of US and NATO forces from the region also came under discussion while the aftermath of Kashmir issue in the backdrop of Narendra Modi’s election as India’s premier was also discussed.

Mahmood said that he also told Zardari about the meeting with US Foreign Office, European Union, House of Commons and foreign offices of other countries.

Later on, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari joined the meeting where Zardari urged him to play his role in the international community, specifically in Punjab to highlight Kashmir cause.

Mahmood apprised Zardari that in Pakistan, about 5 million voters were Kashmiri but elections on the Lahore seat for Kashmir legislative assembly had been pending for three years.

Mahmood said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was well aware of the fact that PPP candidate Dewaan Mahi-ud-din will win the seat. He said that Zardari directed him to play his role for the success of PPP in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan.
