PM’s low cost housing scheme will be 100pc transparent

Federal Minister for Housing and Works Akram Khan Durrani said on Friday said that transparency and meritocracy will be ensured in the Prime Minister’s Low Cost Housing Scheme.

He said this while chairing a meeting of core group on Prime Minster’s Low-Cost Housing Scheme. A detailed briefing about the Low-Cost Housing Scheme was given to the minister by the Secretary Housing and Works (H&W).

The minister said it is undeniable fact that there is a dire need of affordable housing in the country and this initiative of the present government to build 500,000 houses will definitely overcome the housing shortfall.

Durrani said that once the ministry gets approval from prime minister’s office to initiate the project, it will be completed expeditiously because all the stakeholders are already onboard.

He lauded the provincial government’s willingness to offer their land for the scheme and stated such cooperation is needed to accomplish this gigantic task.

It is one of the major innovative schemes of the present government which would cover all areas of Pakistan by providing loan to 25,000 low and middle class families.
