Karachi Airport manager Azfar Malik was removed from his post on Friday for mismanagement and negligence during the Karachi airport attack on June 8.
Malik has been replaced by Ali Jan Agha as the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) takes measures against officials following the airport attack. CAA fire officer Faiz Akhtar and CAA General Manager Fire Raza Rizvi have also been removed from their posts.
On June 8, terrorists stormed into the Karachi airport in a midnight siege which left 30 dead, including all 10 attackers. The Tehreek-e-Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.
Earlier in the day, an enquiry committee absolved the CAA, Airport Security Force (ASF) and firefighters of blame for a devastating blaze which engulfed a cargo warehouse after the June 8 attack at the Karachi airport, leaving seven dead.
On Tuesday, Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani had taken notice of the cold storage fire incident and requested reports from the interior secretary and the Civil Aviation Authority chairman regarding the incident.
