*CM presides over a meeting to review progress of Saaf Pani Project
Saaf Pani Project is of vital importance as it is directly linked with the health of the masses, said Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif while presiding over a high level meeting to review the pace of the Saaf Pani Project on Wednesday.
The meeting was attended by Punjab Minister for Housing Tanvir Aslam Malik, National Assembly Member Hamza Shahbaz Sharif, members of national and provincial assembly, Planning and Development chairman, Energy additional chief secretary, secretaries concerned and senior officers of Punjab Saaf Pani Company. Punjab Saaf Pani Company Chairman Mujteba Jamal gave a detailed briefing regarding the project.
Shahbaz said that implementation of Saaf Pani Project will also remove disparity between the rich and the poor as currently the elite is drinking mineral water while the common man is deprived of even potable water. Therefore, he said, this important project will be executed as a national responsibility. He directed that best professional consultants be selected for implementation of the project and a comprehensive planning be made for implementation of water supply schemes in a coordinated manner. He also directed that speedy implementation of the project be ensured while due attention should also be paid to maintaining transparency and a high standard.
The CM further said that community participation in the project is of vital importance and a solid strategy should be adopted for this purpose. He set up a committee headed by the Planning and Development chairman for better coordination between departments concerned and institutions. He also directed that immediate measures be taken for the repair of already installed filtration plants.
The CM formed a committee under the chairmanship of provincial minister for housing for presenting recommendations regarding already existing filtration plants within three days.

Khyber Pakhtoonkhawa (KPK) Governor Sardar Mehtab Abbasi has thanked Shahbaz Sharif for setting up the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the help and assistance of the Pakhtun brethren and sisters of North Waziristan who have been displaced in the war against terrorism.
KPK governor telephoned the Punjab chief minister (CM) on Wednesday and discussed relief activities for the displaced persons of North Waziristan. Abbasi expressed gratitude to the CM for setting up the relief fund with a sum of Rs 500 million and sending the first convoy of 50 trucks carrying relief goods for the displaced persons. The governor appreciated the humanitarian spirit of the Punjab government and said that help and assistance to the affected families at this difficult time will promote national solidarity.
