Rallies, conspiracies can’t topple govt: Shah

National Assembly Opposition Leader Khursheed Shah said on Wednesday that rallies and demonstrations cannot bring down a government.

Talking to reporters at the Sukkur Airport, Shah said that conspiracies have been made in the past to bring down elected governments.

The opposition leader said that the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri has arrived in Pakistan with his own wish and he should depart on his own terms too.

He said only those who have the courage to sacrifice their lives in politics can bring a revolution.

Shah said that only the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is capable of bringing a revolution in the country and the rest of people just talk about the revolution but do not know how to bring it.

The opposition leader said that it takes a lot to become a prime minister. He said that those who are afraid should leave politics. He said that the PPP is concerned about the country’s future and had he been the prime minister, he would have sent his ministers to welcome Dr Qadri.

He said that the situation created by Dr Qadri and the government doesn’t show sanity.

Shah said that he respects Qadri but sometimes “Qadri becomes emotional and he does not know about practical politics”.

He said that according to the decision of the PPP party chairman, all PPP lawmakers will donate one-month salary for the internally displaced people (IDPs).
