No load-shedding during iftar, sehr, tarawih

Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Asif has directed chief executive officers (CEOs) of power distribution companies to ensure smooth power supply at iftar, sehr and tarawih timings during the month of Ramadan.

The minister gave issued these directions during a high level meeting at the Ministry for Water and Power.

The minister and State Minister Abid Sher Ali also directed the CEOs to make timely repairs in case of any technical fault.

It was also decided that immediate steps be taken to replace old and faulty meters.

Asif said that corruption would not be tolerated at any cost, adding that every individual should play his due role to uproot this menace.

The meeting was informed that the Punjab government would clear outstanding dues of Rs4 billion by June 30 and if the dues are not paid, the power supply to various departments would be disconnected.

The minister also directed DISCOs to ensure 100 percent recovery of the current fiscal year by this month and the CEOs were directed to engage 5,000 employees of village electrification for the purpose.

State Minister Abid Sher will personally monitor the power load-shedding in all DISCOs during Ramadan.
