Cause of terrorism

On 16th June, CJP Justice Tassaduq Hussain Gilani while addressing a gathering in Quetta rightly remarked that terrorism originated from intolerance. With due respect I would like to partially differ that not only intolerance but injustice too is the major cause of terrorism. The performance of judiciary has not been satisfactory which used to oversee corruption and inefficiency. As per late film star Waheed Murad’s one of the movie dialogues, “Judge sahib court insaaf nahin sirf tareekh deti hei”. In real world it is not a movie dialogue only but a very hard fact of our judicial inefficiency and substandard performance. Case in point is the proceedings of the case of Haq Nawaz Jhangvi, ex-SSP chief. The verdict of this case was deferred by about 20 judges. The situation of other cases is no different. The only element of judicial reforms probably includes an increase in the strength of judges. Unless judges are made responsible to explain reasons of delay in a case, outlook of judiciary and performance would not change and so would not the fate of the nation.
