Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that June 23 has passed peacefully due to grace of Almighty and effective strategy of the government with only one incident of violence.
While presiding over a high level meeting, the chief minister said that despite high handedness of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) workers, police displayed restraint. He said that financial assistance of Rs 300,000 each would be given to injured police officials.
The meeting was attended by provincial ministers Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Col (r) Shuja Khanzada, Abdul Waheed Chaudhary, Advisor on Health Khawaja Salman Rafiq, chief secretary, home secretary, information secretary, Lahore commissioner and senior authorities.
The chief minister appreciated the performance of political, administrative and police team regarding excellent arrangements on June 23 and said that political as well as administrative and police officers and officials performed their duties in a coordinated manner. He expressed the hope that political, administrative and police teams will deal with their official matters with devotion, determination and hard work in future as well.
