National Highways Authority (NHA) Chairman Shahid Ashraf Tarar on Tuesday assured the sub-committee of Functional Committee on Problems of Less Developed Areas that all information related to emergency expenditure and other projects would be placed before the committee.

The committee meeting was held under the chairmanship of Senator Nisar Muhammad Khan at Parliament House.

Briefing the committee, NHA Chairman said that NHA general manager and members will be available for answering the questions in the committee’s meetings.

The committee members said government released the funds for welfare of people but “black sheep” sitting in department misused the public money.

Committee Convener Senator Nisar Muhammad Khan said emergency fund was misused in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and payments were made on wrong documents.

The committee member Senator Khalida Parveen said NHA should improve his progress and complete the projects in given time period.

The NHA chairman said all corrupt elements will be accountable and strict action would be initiated against those people who looted the public money.

Replying to the question of committee, the NHA chairman said in emergency NHA general manger was authorised to give approval of up to Rs 2 million and NHA member can approve up to Rs 50 million and NHA chairman has authority for approval of up to Rs 100 million.

The committee was attended by senators Khalida Parveen and Yousa Badani and officials of NHA.
