The Awami Muslim League (AML) Chairman Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said on Monday that all his apprehensions proved to be correct after the government diverted the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri’s plane to Lahore.

Addressing a press conference here, Sheikh Rashid said the practical movement against the government has been started. He said thousands of activists were barred from going towards Islamabad airport, while he was also not allowed by the administration to go towards the airport. He said the image of police has been affected due to all these happenings. He said the government’s incompetence came to the fore after the whole episode.

He said the incident of Model Town, Lahore showed sheer incompetence of the government. “In civilised societies, the chief ministers resign after such incidents,” he said. He said the time is not far away when the whole opposition will stand united. He said he does not support the martial law but supports Dr Qadri.
