Don’t mess with Qadri, Elahi advises government

LAHORE

Central leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has condemned the arrest of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) workers and leaders across Punjab.

“The government has not learnt lesson from Model Town incident, they are repeating same mistakes by an unannounced crackdown against PAT workers who have been arrested and harassed by police in various towns,” said Pervaiz Elahi while addressing a press conference alongside Hussan Mohiuddin, the son of Dr Tahirul Qadri.

Former Punjab chief minister Elahi urged the PML-N government to release the arrested PAT workers and “refrain from any action” against them ahead of Dr Qadri’s homecoming today (Monday).

“Let them protest peacefully. Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif will be responsible in case of any untoward incident,” he said.

On the occasion, Mohiuddin said, “Government is afraid of PAT’s protest.” He said Dr Qadri would not cancel his scheduled arrival and that workers are ready face all hurdles to welcome him at the airport “at all costs.”

Earlier, Elahi telephoned Qadri and assured his party’s support.
