Hundreds of stranded passengers and employees of various government and private organisations on Monday faced hardships while reaching their respective offices due to the protest of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) activists on the arrival of the party’s chairman in the country.
Thin attendance has also been observed in various government and private offices in Islamabad due to the absence of public transport.
Most of the officials residing in Rawalpindi and its adjacent areas preferred to stay in their houses as public transport was not available in the city.
Some routes vehicles from Benazir Bhutto road started plying upto Faizabad from where the passengers have no option but to travel on foot to Islamabad.
Staff living in the capital city reached their offices late due to absence of public transport while several could not reach offices at all.
Expressing anger over the protest, Ahmed Ali, an official of the government department said that he reached his office on foot.
An official of WAPDA, Sanaullah, said that he reached his office on foot, adding that earlier his family tried to convince him to take the day off but he decided to reach office despite absence of transport.
The affected commuters expressed displeasure over the protest, saying that such kind of protest is by no means a service to masses and democracy.
